As a heritage resource, Maitland Gaol contributes information and experiences to visitors and groups seeking a unique peek into the past, together with educational opportunities in the field of heritage.

Culturally, the Gaol continues to serve as a site committed to recognising the complicated tapestry of its past, along with contributing to and supporting current cultural pursuits within the community.

Along with a variety of activities on site, these heritage and cultural services and facilities are principally provided through Gaol Tourswhich are the best method of interpreting Maitland Gaol. A selection of tours are offered to visitors including Self-Guided Audio Tour, Introductory Guided, and Ex-inmate, History and Psychic Themed Guided Tours. Other tour related activities include:

• Sleepovers: Special overnight packages have been designed for groups seeking a different experience at the Gaol, by sleeping in the cells and extending their empathy of past inmates.
• Group Packages: Special tours and experiences are designed for groups, in consultation with tour organisers. Group experiences include special tours, meals and other educational opportunities.

To ensure the easiest possible access to Purchase Tour Tickets, there are five different methods of obtaining them including Internet Ticket Sales through our secure sales site. Conditions do apply with regard to ticket purchases and visitors are urged to make themselves aware of them.

Visitors are also welcome to relax at the Gaol's 'Porridge Cafe' and an exclusive range of Souvenirs of your visit are available from the Customer Service Centre.
