For the first time in it's history, Maitland Gaol is offering members of the public the opportunity to experience a self guided audio tour at night for a limited time.
The Gaol will be open from 6:30pm to 9:30pm, with last entry at 8:30pm for the last time this year on Friday 26 August.
Unlock the gates of Maitland Gaol today, where visitors are invited to 'serve time' learning about the facility, past prisoners and daring escapes. A key anchor attraction of the Hunter, Maitland Gaol housed some of Australia's most hardened and notorious criminals and has a vibrant history spanning more than 150 years.
Visitors to Maitland Gaol can experience the site by a self guided audio tour or one of the themed public tours. The self guided audio tours are available seven days a week during opening hours, and public guided tours are readily available on the weekends. The tours take approximately 1 hour 30 minutes. Bookings are essential for guided tours.
On the back of the success of Gaol Jam: Mulberry last year, Maitland Gaol has again teamed up with East Maitland CWA to produce three new lemon inspired products. Available on the shelves now is Two Fruits Marmalade, Lemon Chutney, and Lemon and Ginger Jam.
