Lock Up Dad for Fathers Day this coming Sunday

Welcome to Maitland Gaol

Unlock the gates of Maitland Gaol today, where visitors are invited to 'serve time' learning about the facility, past prisoners and daring escapes. A key anchor attraction of the Hunter, Maitland Gaol housed some of Australia's most hardened and notorious criminals and has a vibrant history spanning more than 150 years.

Maitland Gaol Tours

Visitors to Maitland Gaol can experience the site by a self guided audio tour or one of the themed public tours. The self guided audio tours are available seven days a week during opening hours, and public guided tours are readily available on the weekends. The tours take approximately 1 hour 30 minutes. Bookings are essential for guided tours.

Gaol Jam Is Back

On the back of the success of Gaol Jam: Mulberry last year, Maitland Gaol has again teamed up with East Maitland CWA to produce three new lemon inspired products. Available on the shelves now is Two Fruits Marmalade, Lemon Chutney, and Lemon and Ginger Jam.

Activities Program 2016

The Maitland Gaol activities program is your guide to the full program of events held at the Gaol during 2016. The program includes a range of interactive and educational activities for children, school holiday fun, a number of exciting exhibitions and even a few events just for the adults.
